Studio Beneath The Railways Site-C Workshop
This space, sited beneath the railways of Keikyu line, is used as a workshop, an exhibition, or an atelier by NPO and local residents. To build this space, two rows of the main structure are arranged beside the existing columns, forming H-steels in W shape. The folded plate structure made of reinforced-concrete is used to make cantilevered roof on both ends. Existing columns and W shaped steels create the sense of depth in the small one room space. Using functional rough materials such as perforated fiber cement board, structural plywood on the floor, and sound absorption-material, we intended to create the space “unfinished”.
